You may ask yourself "So what do I need to be saved from?"  The answer is simple actually.  You need to be saved from yourself.  You need to be rescued from the grip of sin that's weighing you down.  Chances are you already know this, whether you choose to admit it to yourself or not.  It's quite simple to realize when you need help - that things just aren't working out how you want them to.  That you feel empty - like you're missing something.

The Bible teaches that all people have sin in their lives.  There are no exceptions.  All of us have lied, cheated, committed adultry, or disobeyed God's commandments in some way.  If you feel you haven't visit here and be honest with yourself.  Because of sin, we are eternally seperated from God, who can have no sin in His presence.  Being a just Judge, God cannot let wrong actions go unpunished, so all sinners are doomed to eternal torment in Hell.  The punishment for sin is spiritual death - eternal seperation from God.

Because we are all born sinful, it is impossible for any of us to somehow earn forgiveness from a perfect God. However, In His mercy, grace, and love for His creation, God provided a way for us to be rescued from the eternity in Hell that we deserve. John 3:16, probably the most quoted verse in the entire Bible puts God's plan for our salvation simply, it says "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life". The next step after realizing you are a sinner is realizing who can save you. Jesus Christ is the only person with the power to do so. Because He lived a sinless life, He could serve as the perfect sacrifice for our sin before God. One of the most important aspects of accepting the gift of salvation is realizing who Christ is, and that He alone is Lord.

Who Is Jesus?

Once you have acknowledged that you need saving and that Christ is the only one who can pull you out of your sin, you're well on your way to becoming a child of God. Simply talk to God, explaining to Him that you are hopelessly lost without Him, that you want and need His salvation, and that you are ashamed of the disobedience you have shown towards Him.  Cry out and repent from the wrongs you have done, the lies you have told, and the commands you have broken.  When you do this, God will draw near to you.

To be saved, all you need to do is accept the free gift that God offers through His Son, Jesus.  Tell God that you accept that gift - that you recognize that Jesus alone has the power to save you.  Explain that you will commit your life to following the example that Christ left for us through God's Word, the Bible.  Admit that you cannot make it to heaven on your own, and ask God to live in you, and through you - to save you from yourself.  Humble yourself before God, and He will change your life. State that you believe Jesus died on the cross of Calvary for your sins, and that He rose again through the power of God after three days in the darkness of the grave.  Accept Christ as your Lord and Savior.

End your prayer in the name of Jesus, as it is He who made salvation possible. Thank God for the new life He has given you through His power. If you have done all of the steps listed above, congratulations! You are a new child of God.  Your next step should be to get into the Word of God, reading the Bible daily to learn more about who God is and how He wants you to live.  Just as a new baby cannot survive without its mother's milk, so will the new Christian fade away if he or she is not diving into the Bible.

None of us can make it in life without support and friendship from other human beings.  One's Christian life is no different.  Christians
need the help and fellowship of fellow believers.  Once you have received Christ, make it a priority to find a home church that you feel comfortable at, where you feel that you can grow and help others grow.  Most importantly, seek for a church whose sole authority is the Word of God, not the feelings and philosophies of man.  A church that is not based on the solid foundation of Jesus Christ will lead all of its members astray.

We at Calvary would love to invite you into our family.  If you feel that Calvary may just be the church for you, please contact us or visit us at one of our services.  Be assured that you will be greeted with excitement if you choose to visit us!
